September 16, 2011 - Two youth teams still playing

OTTAWA, ONTARIO - While many of us were celebrating an end to our summer season this past weekend, our two OYSL teams still need to play some matches before their seasons conclude.

The U16 Girls secured their spot in the OYSL next summer season with a convincing 4-1 last weekend. Well done girls! They play their final match at home this weekend.

The U14 Boys still have three games left, after a 0-0 draw the other night. The final boys standings will surely go down to the final game of the season. All teams in the east have several games left to play and the difference between first and sixth place is only nine points. Good luck gents - we're all pulling for you.

September 15, 2011 - BBQ closes out summer season

OTTAWA, ONTARIO - Thanks to cooperative weather, brisk sales at the canteen and lots of participation from our YDP and youth competitive players, we closed out the summer season with a real bang last weekend. Pictured below are youths who tackled our 'killer hill' all summer long. We also show a shot of the U9 boys (and some old guy) who tied the U10 boys on a late penalty that was deemed controversial.

While on the subject of controversy, our Coaches once again had trouble with the team of Parents in their annual BBQ day slugfest. Late in the game, with coaches up by one, the match appeared to be over. While some coaches were busy with high-fives all around, the team of parents continued to play and forced an own goal to tie it up, 2-2. Someone suggested penalties to settle the score, but most of the adults groaned instead, then congratulated each other on another good contest. As an FYI, Coach Traian is already plotting training adjustments and possibly some personnel adjustments for next year.
