What is it?It is a soccer tournament for U10 and U11 boys. It is played in Ottawa, yet mirrors the FIFA event for that year in every conceivable way. It is a celebration of soccer culture, competition and excellence. This year the FIFA event is hosted by South Africa, a first for any African nation. Our local version includes these highlights:
- 32 teams, 16 for U10 and 16 for U11;
- separate groups for Premier Ontario and AA in Quebec, Division 1 in Ontario and A in Quebec;
- play is 7-aside mini soccer;
- minimum of four games per team over two days;
- all matches are played in one location, the Millenium Soccer Fields in Cumberland;
- all games have three officials, including ARs to run the sidelines;
- teams adopt a country that plays in the actual World Cup of Soccer;
- players get to keep the jersey of their adopted country; and
- teams and coaches honoured in a parade of athletes.
