February 17, 2011 - Capital United sponsors coaching conference, March 4 - 6

OTTAWA, ONTARIO - The Club is thrilled to be partnering with other local clubs, including Nepean Hotspurs, Ottawa Internationals, and the Eastern Ontario & District Soccer Association, to organize a coaching clinic that includes some of Canada's top soccer coaches, and a special guest.

We have the honour of hosting Liverpool Football Club legend Bruce Grobbelaar. Grobbelaar's was a keeper with Liverpool, where he had six league championships, three FA Cup wins, and two League Cup wins. As an international player, he was capped 44 times by Zimbabwe. He later coached the Zimbabwe National Team. Grobbelaar also played for two years with the Vancouver Whitecaps in the 1970s. As a coach, he worked with a number of teams in South Africa, and since 1985 has joined other former Liverpool players to run camps featuring coaching "The Liverpool Way" in Singapore, Norway, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Grobbelaar is part of a stellar cast of coaches for this year's conference. Also included are Ray Clark, Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) Director of Coaching and Player Development; Dave Benning, CSA's Manager of Technical Programs; and Stuart Neely, Toronto FC's Youth Academy Director.

The event is at Ben Franklin Superdome. Several Capital United teams and players will take part.

All coaches are encouraged to attend this important educational event. Remember, our players can only get better when we get better.

OTTAWA, ONTARIO - The Head Coach of the Toronto FC Academy, Stuart Neely, was on hand last week to share some insights with coaches and to run some sessions with members of the 97, 96 and 95 Boys squads.
