August 25, 2011 - LTPD moving full steam ahead with our support
VAUGHN, ONTARIO - The Ontario Soccer Association is pushing ahead firmly now with implementation plans for its Long-term Player Development (LTPD) model. This is a very innovative, built-in Canada program that will further the development of our players, coaches and our soccer club. The emphasis is on skills development over winning or losing, something we have preached with our Player First philosophy since our inception in 1999. August 20, 2011 - End of summer BBQ set for September 10
OTTAWA, ONTARIO - Strong families always break bread together. Please join us along with other members of our family for our end of summer BBQ.
It will be held on Saturday September 10th at Pineview Park. This is the location of Youth Development Program (YDP) at 1500 Beaverpond Drive, off Blair Road. Our summer YPD English and French program participants are all invited to attend training sessions that day from 10:00 - 11:30 am. This is for all groups, U4 to U11, both boys and girls.
We will have various skills stations for everyone on the lower YDP mini fields. Our Youth Competitive teams will also be there to play matches against each other. And do not miss our Technical Director Challenge where parents take on the Capital United coaches. The coaches are looking to avenge their one and only loss, last year, in the history of this fun event.
Our current U12 Boys team will hold a garage sale and a 50/50 draw at the BBQ. All proceeds will go towards their trip to FC Nantes Atlantique and the Mondial Pupilles Tournament in France in 2012.
Please consider bringing a non-perishable food item. We will donate everything we collect to one of Ottawa area Food Banks.
August 18, 2011 - Dontaye Whittaker to represent Team Canada at 2011 Danone Nations Cup
OTTAWA, ONTARIO - Capital United's very own Dontaye Whittaker will be traveling to Madrid, Spain from the 5th to the 10th of October to represent Canada in the 2011 Danone Nations Cup. The event takes places in the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, which is the home of Real Madrid.
Dontaye was selected when his Eastern Canada team defeated the Western Canada team in a showdown at BMO field in mid-August. Danone runs ID camps leading up to this tournament. Dontaye was selected among thousands of players, both boys and girls, who attended camps all across Canada last fall.
This will be an exciting experience for Dontaye. We wish him well.
